“A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. All men will know that you are My disciples if you love one another.” (John 13:34, 35
)

Hola
Yesterday we had an amazing day here in Barcelona! I could write 10 pages worth of stories of what happened but I’ll only share a little bit.
Our group went to Parc de Guel for a picnic. At this park we can see all of the city of Barcelona and I was reminded of Matthew 9:35–39
. We had a great lunch and then soon after we went to where we planned to have a concert at 6pm.
There were stadium type seats and we had Abby and Brennan play guitar and had others that could sing stand on the stage. We are there for 4 hours! People kept replinishing themselves. People were intrigued by the music and would stop to watch. During that time, we would share the gospel with them. Many people heard the gospel that night.
During this time, Becky led one of the Chinese Spaniards to Christ! There were many Christians from Barcelona that stopped by too. One the Christians that stopped by plays professional American Football here. He and his wife live here and were out sharing the gospel and met Hailey and Nate at Starbucks. An interesting thing about this is that Marc is friends with Coach Creighton (football coach from Drake and a Christian) and keeps in touch with him. We also met a man named Julio who is with Christian Missionary Alliance. He is really good man that is trying to reach people here. We also met up with Adrian who now lives in Barcelona but got saved 20 years ago in Singapore through our sister church there. It was a big encouragement to see him! We also met Marco, who is a Philipino that just moved to this city and was looking for fellowship. These are just a few of many stories from last night.
Be praying for today. My group and I are meeting with Raul, Sergi, David, and Nelli. All these guys are Christians and we just want to be a breathe of fresh air to them. Also, be praying we will be able to hand out of the rest of our tracts.
Our prayer is that we can live this type of lifestyle when we get back to the states. Our days have been short, but we’ve desperate to talk about Christ with people because we know we won’t ever see them again. We need that same desperation back in the USA. In 10 years, half of all the churches we see in our cities will be closed! We’re only 10 years behind Europe. But God is bigger than that, and we need laborers for the kingdom. Some days we’ve missed meals or not eaten what we’ve wanted because we were loving and sharing with people during the day and ran out of time for ourselves to do what we wanted. But we wanted to share Christ and our preferences were pushed to the margin and the gospel of Christ love was our focus. The challenge will be to continue to live the same when get back. I’m convinced that people all over the world our the same and all need to hear the truth.
Sorry this is so scattered, but I got to go!
Gracias,
El grupo Equipo Supremo (Nick, Jason, Randi, Becky, Heather, Dayna, and Lisa)
Hey Everyone,
This is Nathan Peterson writing again. Yesterday was a very, very great day for us. God is so amazing and faithful to us. I’ll start out this post with a verse. Proverbs 16:9
, “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” Haley, Alejandra, and I had met three Muslim women the day before and we had planned to meet them again on Friday for coffee at 11am to talk more about the Bible. So here begins God’s (not our) awesome plan. The three of us left early from our hostel to go down towards the university to get coffee. On the train into Barcelona we met a young Moroccan boy. Haley started talking with him and telling him why we were here. He said that he had met someone else from our group earlier in the week. As he described him we figured out that he hat met Jacob. We talked with him the rest of the way into Barcelona. As we were getting off the train we gave him a New Testament and told him that we were going to be hanging out at 6pm with everyone from our group and other people we had met during the week. There he could meet up again with Jacob. He said he would come (and did).
We arrived at the coffee shop a little early so we read our Bible’s and found some verses to share with the Muslim women. While we were waiting, we met a girl from Indiana who is a Christian studying here in Barcelona. We were able to talk with her and encourage her while we were there. As she left she prayed for us and for the rest of the trip. I think everyone was encouraged after that conversation. An hour has passed by and we have now figured out that the three women aren’t going to show up. The rest of our group was going to be showing up to the university in about an hour so we decided to stay in the coffee shop and just have a quiet time.
As we were reading, all of a sudden three people walk in and come over to us (a young married couple and another guy). They asked us, “Are you Christians?” Haley and I said, “Yes” and they got really excited. To make a long story short, the young couple are here in Barcelona because the guy is playing on an American football team. The other guy asked us what we were doing here and we told them that we are on a mission trip with our church. And that we go out everyday to the streets and share with people and that someday, our vision is to plant a church in Barcelona. This guy’s eyes got really big and you could tell that he wanted to just say ten things at one but couldn’t get anything out. He helps to train and raise up people as missionaries. He also has a huge heart for Spain and has wanted to plant an Evangelical church in Barcelona! They all were so excited to meet us and couldn’t believe that we were here. It is amazing to see how God works.
As the three of us (Haley, Alejandra, and I) look back at our morning we were just amazed. You could say that it was a bummer that the three Muslim women never showed up, but God had a bigger and better plan for us. If we weren’t going to leave early form our hostel, we never would have ran into the young boy on the train who came to our hang out. He got coffee with Jacob during it where Jacob could share more with him, he also got dinner with us and hung out with our whole group the rest of the night. (Side story: Jacob had e-mailed him but for some reason couldn’t get a hold of him. With out us meeting him on the train, the young boy wouldn’t know about the hang out and Jacob may not have been able to get together with him again.) If we didn’t leave early in the morning we wouldn’t have met the Christian girl from Indiana and we wouldn’t have met the other couple and the guy who wants to plant a church. We were just reading our Bibles and they walked by and saw us in the window, so they stopped in. We had a plan for the morning, but God blew our minds away with His much better plan!
The rest of the day was great and the hang out at 6pm went really well. We found a place off of the metro stop “Lesseps” where there is some bleacher seating and a piano out side. We just had a few people play guitar and sing while everyone else stood around and met people who came from previous meeting in the week and talked with people who showed up. It was a really great evening! That’s all for now. God Bless.
Hello WCCC,
Another great day in Barcelona! Our group started out in Plaza Espanya. We were waiting to meet with someone, and several of us ended up sharing the gospel with a group of 10–15 high schoolers from another town just south of Barcelona. Pray for receptive ears and hearts! We met with Vikki for lunch, a woman we met at the hostel. Vikki is a Christian, so please pray that our time with her encouraged her and that she would find a fellowship in Barcelona. Afterwards, our group went sharing in the Plaza which led to many great conversations. Matt and Kendall were able to share the gospel with a group of high school boys. I (Cole) was able to share with another student for quite some time. Jon, Abby, and recent pick up Elizabeth (Abby’s sister) were able to present the gospel to a group of girls.
God has really encouraged and blessed our group with Mauro, a man from the Madrid church who is in love with the Lord. It has been so refreshing to see his commitment to the Lord and the love he has for people, and to hear his testimony. Please pray that God would use Mauro in an incredible way while his here in Barcelona. Also, please pray that our group would be a great encouragement to him as well!
Tomorrow will consist of several meetings with other people that we have had the opportunity to build into in the last day, week, or year(s). Here are some people you can pray for:
Ronald
Alex*
Another Alex*
Uroslav*
Iris
Neili
David
Laingchi
Caroling*
* means please pray for salvation. Otherwise, pray for further growth and encouragement in their relationship with the Lord. Please pray that the Christians here would grow in their desire to see the gospel advanced in Barcelona, and that God would give them the wisdom to do so.
We are all extremely tired, but extremely encouraged by what God has been doing. Thank you so much for your prayers. John 3:16
